Product as delivered is not up to date

Following Quick Start instructions, I installed the product from Disc 1.

A stale version of the software was installed that could not be updated even with help from CNG Support.

Loading the 6 image discs on my hard drive was predicted to take 60 90 minutes per disc it took 26 28 hours per disc on a Windows XP desktop computer that was doing little else.

Many of the product’s features were not activated.

There were no instructions for installing the 2010 2011 image updates on Disc 7,

As a last resort, with a suggestion from CNG Support, I uninstalled the Disc 1 application and re installed everything from Disc 7. Voila! The correct software version was there,

I strongly recommend that you update your Quick Start instructions. Needless to say,

Comments about The Complete National Geographic on 7 DVD ROMs:

I was never able to get the program to work even after several weeks working with product support. On a high end Mac (12 cpus, 3 DVD devices) the program just hangs with the spinning beach ball for minutes before doing anything. Then it hangs again.

I was told that this is a problem with Adobe Air. I have seen reviews on other sites reporting this problem 2 plus years ago. I am disappointed that I was told to contact Adobe regarding a fix. I wish someone would take responsibility for the fact that the product does not work and fix it, rather than blame Adobe. Sounds as using Adobe Air as a platform was a mistake.

I have a high resolution 30″ screen. However the product doesn’t scale up, and the resolution is very poor.

I love the magazine and would love to use the product if it is ever fixed so it is useable.

Comments about The Complete National Geographic on 7 DVD ROMs:

But I am baffled by failure of the installation disk to install on Windows 8. So it is now useless for me. I wonder if the managers would do something about it and make it useful for windows 8/8.1 users.
